Re(set) - A collective exhibition, 9-14 May 2016

A few weeks ago, on 9-14 May 2016 at N-Workshop Yogyakarta, I had a collective exhibition together with my lovely friends. The title of the exhibition is Re(set). The theme relates to Self that deals with Other (either symbolic or real). The curator, Mas Hadid, is a very friendly guy who can guide us to make our best concept (even tho I still feel that I'm failing in technical part lol). 10+ artists exhibited their works: Amel, Mas Arya, Mas Budi, Mas Edi, Mas Nanang, Mas Rahmad, Mas Rama, Mas Sony, Nof and me! Mas Iskandar and Pak Koskow later on 3rd/4th day of exhibition displayed their works as well

Honestly, I feel very special during the exhibition because of many reasons :

1. Diyana, a friend of mine from Malaysia came all the way from Kuala Lumpur to help displaying and to visit this exhibition. I still feel sorry cause I didn't give her the best trip like she did when I visited her in KL :(

2. Binar and Ratri, childhood friends from Sumatra, also came to visit. We talked a lot and Ratri even came for drawing together with other participants.

3. I get to exhibit my artworks together with people that I adore!

Happy New Year 2014!

Last months of 2013 was indeed hard, but here I am, making it to 2014! So many great things happened early in this beautiful new year :) Just like last year and years before, I received lots and lots of love from family and friends.

I finally tell my significant other about how I think and I feel about him, and I could say that he is the greatest gift this year (ahem! :">). He made a cute drawing of me (go follow his instagram, he has a rad collection of drawings!):

And I am so grateful to know Dita, Eki, Icha, and Kak Nikita, spent some time to made these wonderful birthday greetings for me :

I already wanted to buy a suitcase for my art supplies but I didn't have a time to find and buy one. They save me a very good amount of time and energy, thanks, i LOVE this!

My very kind roommate, Mba Zah, gave me a guitar... in a form of flashdisk, or as we say in Thailand, thumbdrive :D And Mba Dati gave me a really cute encouragement to finish my thesis. I will Mba, and I will do it really soon :)

Actually, there's another present but it's still in the laundry basket. It's a purple clothes from Brina, the cool girl on the block. Haha, thanks, Brin!

My family gave me a skype birthday party! Dang, why are they having a party when I'm not even there?

They already cut and ate the cake. Without me.

One of my favorite singer was forgetting my birthday, I was kinda sad. LOLJK. I know he was having a test for the sake of continuation of his life, I won't even mad if he completely forgot. Well maybe a little. (Disclaimer  :  for all of eco-lover out there, don't worry, this guy were reusing used paper and have the intention the reuse it again.)

And as I promised in my previous post, here I present the video that Cinan and her other-half, Houman, made for me, you will see why there's no way I could top their video :

For a very personal reason, this video defines pure happiness to me. Thank you very much, cutest and smartest couple I've ever met :)

Lopburi Trip : Phra Prang Sam Yod

After a very long time not exercising photography, I laid once again my finger on the shutter button of my Canon EOS 500D. Inspired by Mokstimofeevic's works, here's what I got from the trip to Lopburi on December 21st, 2013.

Seperti yang saya ceritakan dalam post "antara saya dan rasa suka saya", saya tidak pernah berusaha memiliki sesuatu yang saya sukai. Tapi kejadian yang saya alami ini mungkin yang dinamakan kekuatan cinta. Cinta? Berlebihan? Tidak. Ini benar-benar yang saya rasakan.

Walau saya suka sekali dengan hewan jerapah, saya tidak pernah membeli barang-barang yang berhubungan dengan jerapah. Namun, saat ini saya telah memiliki beberapa barang yang berunsur jerapah.

Barang pertama yang saya dapatkan adalah pensil motif jerapah yang diberikan oleh Welcy (teman yang memberi tahu bahwa ada pensil bermotif jerapah). Kira-kira seminggu setelah ia mengabari saya mengenai pensil tersebut, tiba-tiba dia menyerahkan sebuah pensil pada saya, "Ini buat Damar, Damar suka jerapah kan?".

Barang yang kedua adalah cutter jerapah berwarna hijau. Cutter ini memang tidak secara sengaja diberikan pada saya karena saya mendapatkannya melalui kado silang di pesta natal tahun 2011, tapi tetap saja saya berterimakasih pada Ghea, sang pemilik kado mungil tersebut.

Barang yang ketiga adalah boneka jerapah yang merupakan hadiah ulang tahun saya yang ke-20 dari Kak Inna, Kak Ghea, dan Edo.

Saya sudah lama mengidam-idamkan bando telinga dan tanduk jerapah, namun saya tidak punya kesempatan untuk pergi ke taman safari, tempat dimana bando ini dijual. Tiba-tiba saja saat sedang berkumpul bersama teman-teman, Duta memberikan kantung kertas berwarna coklat pada saya. Ketika saya buka, ternyata isinya adalah bando yang selama ini saya inginkan!

Dan yang saya terakhir dapatkan adalah topi jerapah yang diberikan Edo. Saya jadi ingat, saat KKN (atau mungkin sesudahnya, saya agak lupa) dia bertanya boneka dan topi hewan apa saja yang sudah saya miliki, mungkin saat itu dia hendak memastikan bahwa saya belum memiliki topi jerapah.

Tapi sayangnya saya bukan teman yang baik untuk mereka. Saya tidak menjaga dengan baik barang-barang yang mereka berikan. Pensil yang diberikan Welcy patah karena terinjak oleh teman KKN saat di pondokan. Betapa kesalnya ketika mendapati pensil itu tetap berada dimana pensil tersebut terinjak. Si penginjak hanya meminta maaf dengan terkekeh dan tidak berusaha untuk membetulkan pensil yang telah patah menjadi dua bagian tersebut. Lalu cutter yang diberikan Ghea menghilang setelah saya pinjamkan kepada seseorang yang membantu layatan di depan pondokan KKN saya. Seharian saya tunggu kembalinya orang tersebut namun tidak ada tanda-tanda ia akan mengembalikan cutter saya. Maafkan saya ya Welcy dan Ghea :(

Saya akan menjaga dengan sepenuh hati pensil, boneka, bando, dan topi jerapah yang Welcy, Inna, Edo, Ghea, dan Duta berikan. Terima kasih atas pemberian kalian semua. Entah kapan saya bisa membalas kebaikan hati kalian pada saya. Semoga secepatnya. *Peluk erat dan cium untuk kalian* SAYA CINTA KALIAN!

Monsieur Baguette Partaaayyy!

Pada tanggal 8 Juni 2011, sebelum Ujian Akhir Semester Genap berlangsung, saya bersama teman-teman tercinta saya mengadakan day party yang sangat seru! Kami sepakat menamakan acara kali ini dengan 'Monsieur Baguette Party'. Kenapa? Karena menu pada hari itu adalah: BAGUETTE! LOTS and LOTS of BAGUETTE :D

Di invitationnya sih seharusnya ini adalah makan pagi, tapi berhubung dengan adanya segala persiapan yang cukup ribet namun mengasikkan (asik karena saya sudah icip-icip terlebih dahulu makanan yang ada, hoho :D), jadilah ini acara makan siang.


Ah menyenangkan sekali bisa berkumpul dan berfoto seperti ini!
Setelah selesai berfoto, kami langsung menyerbu makanan yang ada! Saya sih hanya memakan satu sandwich baguette dengan potongan panjang, tapi saya tidak tahu sudah berapa banyak baguette dengan potongan bulat yang saya makan, haha! Semua kombinasi saya coba, semua bahan makanan yang di depan mata saya campur menjadi satu (rasanya saya sangat rakus pada saat itu :D). Yang menjadi favorit saya adalah: round baguette+smoked beef+strawberry yoghurt+potato chips! Ah, ingin lagi!

Kami sampai di pantai Parangtritis pada waktu yang tepat, SUNSET!


Senang rasanya berada di pantai, sudah lama sekali saya tidak main ke pantai :')

Namun kemudian ada suatu hal yang kurang mengenakkan terjadi. Ketika saya, Denta, Icha, dan Abang berjalan menuju ke arah matahari terbenam, seorang wanita dengan pasangannya menghampiri dan bertanya pada kami, "Mas, Mbak, ada yang bisa renang? Itu ada yang terbawa arus." Dan memang benar, ada yang berada sudah jauh dari pantai! Kami berempat seketika panik! Abang langsung lari mencari TIM SAR, Denta berteriak-teriak meminta kembali ke pantai pada seseorang yang berusaha menyelamatkan orang tenggelam namun tanpa mengenakan pelampung. Icha berlarian entah kemana, saya hanya bisa memanjatkan doa dengan tubuh yang gemetar.


Ternyata ada dua orang yang terseret arus!
Kira-kira 5 menit kemudian, empat orang yang saya kira dari tim SAR datang, mereka dengan sigapnya mengenakan pelampung kemudian berenang berusaha menyelamatkan dua orang yang terseret arus tersebut tersebut, dan berhasil! Salah satu dari lelaki yang nyaris tenggelam tersebut pingsan. Mendengar kasak-kusuk dari pengunjung lain, mereka ternyata mabuk setelah minum-minum.

Karena suasana semakin tidak mengenakkan, saya dan teman-teman sepakat melanjutkan perjalanan ke Pantai Depok, untuk bertemu teman-teman yang menyusul kami. Semua rasa tidak enak karena kejadian di Parangtritis hilang saat makanan datang, haha! Kami makan ikan cakalang dan kerang dengan harga yang cukup murah, hanya 10rb/orang!
Kapan-kapan, kalau main ke Pantai Depok, coba makan di Warung Sumilir. Ada fasilitas mushola dan toilet. Enak loh, apalagi kalau malam dan kita konsumennya terakhir, dapet banyak bonus hihi :D

What a great day! Oh, and happy holiday for all of you!

I am choosen to be the artistic coordinator for this event. I have worked for a month with lots and lots of help from my deary friends. They are: Aji, Icha, Erlita, Novika, Ola, Ulfah, Adam, Denta, and Nasrul. We've worked day and night, through hot and cold, through rain and storm :DDDDD Our jobs were making the stage decorations, properties, poster design and we were responsable for the stage decoration during the show.

That whole month painful (okay I know I’m exaggerating) work was SATISFYING (it still IS!)!

At first Riry, the event coordinator, doubted this event, but then I said, "I am sure that this auditorium will be FULL!". And I was right. Bunch of people came to Lembaga Indonesia Prancis (LIP). A small group that came late even couldn't see the show. It turned out that small group was people from Balairung Press. Click this for the article.

Since I was the artistic coordinator, I had to stay behind the scene but, I managed to get some photos of the show.

Tour de Java-Est End

30 January 2011
Last day in Malang! I said goodbye to Cinant's family. Cinant's sister, Mba Ayun, drove me to the station. I took Penataran train to go to Surabaya. I met Endra, Mr. Generous who picked me up at the station and searched a room for me (although at last i slept in my cousin's house) and took me to DKV ITS's exhibition and drove me to Tunjungan Plaza.

The exhibition was not really satisfying but i saw GIRAFFE!




When i saw the lodgement where i will sleep that night, i was just like, 'eeerrmmhh, mmkay, well, um.'
Not because the room, but because other roomers look like gangsters or something :| We went to Tunjungan Plaza to bought bread for my dinner and breakfast. We chatted and at last I found out that Endra is also not comfortable if he had to leave me at that lodgement. I contacted my cousin and fortunately he could pick me up and let me stay the night in his house :D But before we go home, he brought me and Endra to House of Sampoerna.

On the way home, my cousins took me to Dolly! HAHAHA! No, no, we didn't stop and hang out there, we just passed by the street :D

Not much to do in the morning. I had breakfast (that was kinda good nasi pecel, yum :9) and took a shower and watched TV and played with Anthony. After took dzuhur prayer, Mba Dina drove me to the commuter station not far from her house. I arrived at Gubeng at 14.30. I waited for only 25 minutes and the train showed up. The train was supposed to be punctual, but a passenger claimed that his suitcase was missing! I don't know what happened next as not long after that hurry-scurry the train departed. About 20-30 minutes after leaving Gubeng, it rained so hard!


I finally returned to Yogyakarta at 20.00. I met Mas Gin in the train station and we had a little conversation in front of the station then Mas Yoga picked me up.

RESULT: A PRETTY AMUSING AND DELIGHTING HOLIDAY
