Re(set) - A collective exhibition, 9-14 May 2016

A few weeks ago, on 9-14 May 2016 at N-Workshop Yogyakarta, I had a collective exhibition together with my lovely friends. The title of the exhibition is Re(set). The theme relates to Self that deals with Other (either symbolic or real). The curator, Mas Hadid, is a very friendly guy who can guide us to make our best concept (even tho I still feel that I'm failing in technical part lol). 10+ artists exhibited their works: Amel, Mas Arya, Mas Budi, Mas Edi, Mas Nanang, Mas Rahmad, Mas Rama, Mas Sony, Nof and me! Mas Iskandar and Pak Koskow later on 3rd/4th day of exhibition displayed their works as well

Honestly, I feel very special during the exhibition because of many reasons :
1. Diyana, a friend of mine from Malaysia came all the way from Kuala Lumpur to help displaying and to visit this exhibition. I still feel sorry cause I didn't give her the best trip like she did when I visited her in KL :(
2. Binar and Ratri, childhood friends from Sumatra, also came to visit. We talked a lot and Ratri even came for drawing together with other participants.
3. I get to exhibit my artworks together with people that I adore!

Here are some photos from the event. Enjoy!
Display team + Diyana! - 8 May 2016
Opening Day - 9 May 2016
Somehow we get to display our works in same room ♥
Book Exchange - 12 May 2016
Ratri. Me, and Binar :3
Mas Hadid, giving a curatorial tour to UIN students - 14 May 2016
Drawing Together Event - 14 May 2016

My favorite work by Amalia Permahani.
I want to say thanks to all people who have supported me, my family, my friends, especially for Mas Arya who always give his words of advice to become a better artist, Mas Rama and Mas Sony for their support and knowledge of technical part, and for Nof who stayed together with me in the last minutes of making the artworks. Love you all!

I will tell you more about my artwork for this exhibition in next post. Ciao!

'92 Girls #2

This will be a post with a lot of photos and videos :3

Happy New Year 2014!

Last months of 2013 was indeed hard, but here I am, making it to 2014! So many great things happened early in this beautiful new year :) Just like last year and years before, I received lots and lots of love from family and friends.

I finally tell my significant other about how I think and I feel about him, and I could say that he is the greatest gift this year (ahem! :">). He made a cute drawing of me (go follow his instagram, he has a rad collection of drawings!):
And I am so grateful to know Dita, Eki, Icha, and Kak Nikita, spent some time to made these wonderful birthday greetings for me :
A beatiful letter and prayer from Dita, unfortunately, she shared it privately.
This one is also from Dita (it's her usual nature to give me more than one present on my birthday, I just don't know how she can stick out as a friend of forgetful and uncaring human-being like me) :
Dita's and her beautiful friends in Hana Bank. You girls are so beautiful! *kiss one by one*
Maudy Ayunda versi tidak terawat

I miss you too, my shopping mate! :*

My eyebrows are funny because a make up artist trimmed them for a photo-shoot :|

I am even more grateful to know that my friends in Bangkok are caring me :
Joan, Me, and Rima on the day they gave me a really cool present.

I already wanted to buy a suitcase for my art supplies but I didn't have a time to find and buy one. They save me a very good amount of time and energy, thanks, i LOVE this!

My very kind roommate, Mba Zah, gave me a guitar... in a form of flashdisk, or as we say in Thailand, thumbdrive :D And Mba Dati gave me a really cute encouragement to finish my thesis. I will Mba, and I will do it really soon :)
Actually, there's another present but it's still in the laundry basket. It's a purple clothes from Brina, the cool girl on the block. Haha, thanks, Brin!

My family gave me a skype birthday party! Dang, why are they having a party when I'm not even there?
They already cut and ate the cake. Without me.

One of my favorite singer was forgetting my birthday, I was kinda sad. LOLJK. I know he was having a test for the sake of continuation of his life, I won't even mad if he completely forgot. Well maybe a little. (Disclaimer  :  for all of eco-lover out there, don't worry, this guy were reusing used paper and have the intention the reuse it again.)

And as I promised in my previous post, here I present the video that Cinan and her other-half, Houman, made for me, you will see why there's no way I could top their video :
For a very personal reason, this video defines pure happiness to me. Thank you very much, cutest and smartest couple I've ever met :)

I want to thank you all and I want to thank Allah as well, Alhamdulillah :)

BANGKOK - PROLOGUE

After graduating bachelor degree, I actually don't have any intention or plan to directly continue my french literature study, but then my thesis supervisor gave me the information about full scholarship offer from Chulalongkorn University. Long story short, here I am now, pursuing my Master of Arts degree, in Bangkok :)

Everything Was So Sudden

The announcement of the scholarship recipients was on May, 16th 2013. I should had been in Bangkok on the 1st of June.

You could imagine how hectic the next two weeks were. There were so many things I had to do before leaving for Bangkok, such as make visa, register myself to a health insurance, do a general check-up and other time-consuming things. Up until now, I am still really grateful to those who already helped me, especially to all member of my family. Since I had to do those time-consuming things, I didn't have much quality time with all my friends in Indonesia and I can say that I regret it. I regret it because I still have unfulfilled promises. I promised Kak Erlita to teach her how to play her favorite song with the guitar and also teach her how to modify her blog design. I promised Duta to have a photography session and cover some songs. I promised Cinant to have a wild karaoke session and I haven't had the chance to keep all of my promises. I still have many other promises and deadlines. All I hope now is that I can keep my promises, meaning that everyone including me, have to stay healthy and happy until the time when I go back to Indonesia.

The Departure Day

It was the most bitter-sweet day I have ever had in the entire 21 years and 3 months of my life.

All the morning my sister and I stuck together like a super glued paper. Every time we met each other eyes, we automatically hugged each other. She was very sweet that morning :D My brother teased me but I didn't feel annoyed, I felt happy instead. My Dad asked how I feel with his warm stare.

We arrived in airport about an hour and a half before my flight. I didn't directly go to the passanger waiting room because my friends said that they would come to see me in the airport. They did. Duta, Inna, Cinan, Denta, Harkit, and Nikita kindly came to the airport to say goodbye. I hugged each one of them. At that very moment I tried to memorize how warm and comforting their hugs were. Harkit, Nikita, and Inna gave me really cute gifts and I love them! A giraffe (we actually argued if this doll really is a giraffe or not :p) doll and an aromatherapy oil with giraffe dispenser, They named the doll Mr. Gi and I decided Little Gi, as the name for the little giraffe.

Little Gi turns out a literally HOT kid :p

The time had come. It was the first time I saw my mother gazed deeply into my eyes, telling how she felt, sending messages and advices without even talking. I felt goosebumps all over my body when she did that. I hugged and kissed her, I hugged and kissed my dad, I hugged and kissed my brother, I hugged and kissed my sister.

I waved at them as I felt rushes of blood pumped in and out of my heart. See you later, my kind friends. See you real soon, my beloved family. Two years is a short time, isn't it?

A shockingly short story

Once upon a time there was a siberian husky and a cow.

The siberian husky tried to eat the cow.

The cow tried to eat the siberian husky.

Monsieur Baguette Partaaayyy!

Kenapa? Karena menu pada hari itu adalah: BAGUETTE! LOTS and LOTS of BAGUETTE :D

Ah, ingin lagi!

Bunch of kisses for Vremita! Beliaulah otak utama acara ini terjadi :*

I like this photo the most, so random but full of real-happiness

And because of Dyka's crazy idea, we went to the:

What a great day! Oh, and happy holiday for all of you!

Ukulele Night

taken from IUC FB Group

Wafiq Giotama (I called him Ogi) invited me to an ukulele player gathering at Rodeo Square on May, 21st 2011. I was so excited knowing there will be a uker gathering! I was hoping that I could meet other girl who plays ukulele. But sadly, I was the only uker girl who came to the gathering. But there was no reason to be sad because I got the Answer Sheet CD for FREE!

Ogi is the member of Answer Sheet. He's also the maker of Indonesian Ukulele Community.

Moi, Ogi, Mas Ramses

Danan, Ogi, Rebet

I was so happy to be there because I could watch Mas Fadhil and Answer Sheet perfomance! They played really really effin' good so I ashamed to play my uke when they asked me to :D

TERNYATA EH TERNYATA! Tulang di bagian persendian kakinya retak. Liat kaki Mamah dibalut, saya tanya, "Mah, digips ngga?"
"Iya, tapi besok pas kontrol lagi"
"HOREEEE! AKU GAMBAR-GAMBARIN YAH GIPSNYA!"
"Huss, sembarangan! Emoh ah"
Papah nambahin, "Iya, janganlah"

Yaaaaaah :( Emang saya anak yang kurang ajar, tau kaki Mamahnya retak malah sumringah :">

TAAAAPIIIIIIIIIIIII.......

"Dek, tiga minggu lagi Insya Allah udah mau dicopot nih gipsnya, jadi ditulis-tulisin ngga?"

WUUUUOOOOOOOHHHH! Dengan semangat membara, saya langsung ambil spidol waterproof dan langsung berkarya bersama kedua kakak saya.

Saya

Kakak-kakak Saya

Pas coret-coret, eh tiba-tiba Papah dateng!
Papah: Kalian bertiga harus bayar sama Mamah
Saya dan kakak perempuan saya: Loh, knapa?
Saya kira Papah bakal marah karena beliau kan tidak setuju kalau gipsnya dicoret-coret, ngga taunyaaaa.....
Papah: Itu kan space iklan, jadinya bayar.

JEDUAR!

WARNING: THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY LONG POST!

I've always wanted to go to eastern Java since the first semester and finally I really got there! I went there with my friend, my model, my catastrophic partner, Cinant. Here go the stories :)

28 January 2011
My sister drove me to Lempuyangan train station. When I arrived, Cinant was already there with Duta. We talked for several minutes then we said bye to Duta because it was nearly 9 o'clock. Our train was supposed to depart at 9.10 but until 9.20 the train didn't come. We finally left Lempuyangan at 9.30 with Logawa train. No special thing happened in the train. We sat in front of a couple from Purwokerto (i guessed). If I am not mistaken, we arrived at Wonokromo train station at 16:40.
Since Adam (the one who supposed to guide us in Surabaya) could not be reached, we decided to go straight away to Malang, Cinant's hometown. We spent 2,5 hours in Penataran train. I noticed a really funny vendor there! He sells fruits such as strawberries and grapes. The funny thing is when he offers strawberries, he shouts, 'Setrrroberi, Setrrroberi!'. He emphasizes the 'R' just like when my little nephew learned how to pronounce 'R', 'Rrrrrrrrr!'. You really should hear him yourself :D
Cinant bought me pinky fried rice for dinner and after took a shower, we watched 500 Days of Summer. It is a real good movie, p*nis! Hahahaha! When the movie finished, we caught some zzz

29 January 2011
I woke up early and Cinant's mother made me a cup of warm tea served with yum-yum cakes. After had our breakfast, Me and Cinant went to Universitas Brawijaya to meet Lia, one of Malang's Deviant :) I took a few pictures of Cinant when we were waiting for Lia to pick us.

Lia introduced some of her friends but I only can remember Acha, Indra, and Nadia (well, Nadia introduced herself). I forgot the name of guy with black-shirt since he didn't talked much. I also meet a yellow-shirted guy named Mukti (Or Murti, idk), he is so silly haha.

Acha, Lia, Nadia, Indra

They were going to have a photo session for an exhibition but unluckyly the electricity suddenly out! Poor them!

After having a really nice chat, Me and Cinant went to McDonald's and bought ice creams. It was kinda weird because a waitress took our order and put them down in a bill and gave it to me but when i handed the bill to the cashier, she still asked for our order, so what's the point of that damned bill?

When we enjoyed our ice creams, Cinant's friend came, his name is Rizal. Both of them were confused when I asked them about eating place. We finally ate at Toko Oen. A vintage restaurant placed right in front of McDonald's. Actually, only Cinant who eat there. She ordered oxtongue steak. Rizal ordered strawberry ice cream and I ordered domino ice cream since they ran out of napolitain.
I tasted the steak. I think it was just OK though it is my first oxtongue. I saw Rizal's expression when he tasted his ice cream. I saw Cinant's expression when she tasted Rizal's ice cream. When i tasted Rizal's ice cream. I know why they face are pretty odd. EGG! It isn't strawberry ice cream, it is egg ice cream (OK, i'm exaggerating)! Something's not right with that ice cream hahahaha :D Mine was just OK.

For a distinguished restaurant like that, they even don't bother to put some fan or air conditioner! It was really hot there, a lot fresher outside! The restroom are also uncomfortable, a bit disappointing but at least I tried :) Price range: Rp 5.000 - Rp 70.000

Then we went to Alun-Alun and i took photographs and we had conversation and we feed the birds and it was so nice :)

Cinant and Rizal

Lia caught us up in Alun-Alun and we agreed to eat at Surabi Imut. The price range there are between Rp 2.000,- to Rp 7.000,-. I ordered Surabi+Egg+Sausage+Mayo. I've tasted better surabi before :D

We decided to go home early because Rizal said that Lia is a host at a show in a local TV station :D Cinant, Rizal, and I watched that TV show together in Cinant's house. After that we watched two (or three?) episodes of season 2 of The Big Bang Theory. I had a real good laugh that evening :)
