a day worth to spent

taken by Dyka

Me and my friends supposed to see Duta and Riry first big choir concert in Societet, Yogyakarta. We have already ordered tickets for the concert at Riry's friend, but he/she stupidly sell our tickets to other people! So we had to queue up to buy tickets. Unfortunately, the person in front of our queue (well, i came late and i just waited outside) is the last person who got the ticket! F!

But then, Eki suggested to view an exhibition held near the concert hall. It was really fun seeing unique artworks. We took a lot of pictures here :D

After that, we headed to Alun-Alun Selatan for trying tandem bicycles. UBER FUN! My partner is Dyon. He really love to ride fast. We rounded the square (a bit weird sentence, lol) for 4 times. It cost 10.000 rupiahs. In the fourth time, we changed partner. Me with Niki, Dyka with Dyon.
Eki and Desta :D

Feel tired, we went to McD's Malioboro. As usual, i bought Smarties McFlurry, YUM!

Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain (Movie Review)

Title : Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (in french, english subtitles)
Director : Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Release Date : 2001, April 25th
Genre : Comedy, Romance
Cast : Audrey Tautou, Mathieu Kassovitz
Summary : Amélie is a story about a girl named Amélie whose childhood was suppressed by her Father's mistaken concerns of a heart defect. With these concerns Amélie gets hardly any real life contact with other people. This leads Amélie to resort to her own fantastical world and dreams of love and beauty. She later on becomes a young woman and moves to the central part of Paris as a waitress. After finding a lost treasure belonging to the former occupant of her apartment, she decides to return it to him. After seeing his reaction and his new found perspective - she decides to devote her life to the people around her. Such as, her father who is obsessed with his garden-gnome, a failed writer, a hypochondriac, a man who stalks his ex girlfriends, the "ghost", a suppressed young soul, the love of her life and a man whose bones are as brittle as glass. But after consuming herself with these escapades - she finds out that she is disregarding her own life and damaging her quest for love. Amélie then discovers she must become more aggressive and take a hold of her life and capture the beauty of love she has always dreamed of.

I always want to see this movie after i read the synopsis in an Indonesian girl magazine (KawanKu if i not mistaken) and it's almost 9 years ago! Well, i finally have the time to watch it :D I know i will love this movie since the beginning. I love random things and this movie is so random. They put unrelated but good scene in the movie. They expose even tiny little thing that no one would ever care or notice, like when Amelie try to amuse herself and asking about how many people have orgasm in same time to herself. It makes this movie so unique (and perfect for me). Not much that i can say because this movie is so beautiful. Maybe some people think that this is a weird movie, but for me, this is a treasure. I really recommend you to watch this movie. Let your imagination go wild and dive into this wonderful story.

If you want to search the soundtrack of Amelie, try Yann Tiersen, he is the one who composed the soundtrack. The songs also lovely.

Favorite Song(s) : La Valse d'Amélie
Favorite Quotation(s) : - On September 3rd 1973, at 6:28pm and 32 seconds, a bluebottle fly capable of 14,670 wing beats a minute landed on Rue St Vincent, Montmartre. At the same moment, on a restaurant terrace nearby, the wind magically made two glasses dance unseen on a tablecloth. Meanwhile, in a 5th-floor flat, 28 Avenue Trudaine, Paris 9, returning from his best friend's funeral, Eugène Colère erased his name from his address book. At the same moment, a sperm with one X chromosome, belonging to Raphaël Poulain, made a dash for an egg in his wife Amandine. Nine months later, Amélie Poulain was born.
- Les temps sont durs pour les rêveurs. (Times are hard for dreamers.)

RENT (Movie Review)

Title : RENT
Director : Chris Colombus
Release Date : 2005, November 23rd
Genre : Drama, Musical, Romance
Cast : Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, Rosario Dawson, Idina Menzel
Summary : This rock opera tells the story of one year in the life of a group of bohemians struggling in modern day East Village New York. The story centers around Mark and Roger, two roommates. While a former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, Mark tries to capture it through his attempts to make a film. In the year that follows, the group deals with love, loss, AIDS, and modern day life in one truly powerful story.
Based on Puccini's 'La Boheme', 'Rent' tells the story of one year in the life of friends living the Bohemian life in modern day East Village, New York City, 1989-1990. Among the group are our narrator, nerdy love-struck filmmaker Mark Cohen; the object of Mark's affection, his former girlfriend, Maureen Johnson; Maureen's Harvard-educated public interest lawyer and lesbian lover Joanne Jefferson; Mark's roommate, HIV-positive musician and former junkie, Roger Davis; Roger's new girlfriend, the HIV-positive drug addicted S&M dancer, Mimi Marquez; their former roommate, HIV-positive computer genius Tom Collins; Collins' HIV-positive drag queen street musician/lover Angel; and Benjamin Coffin III, a former member of the group who married for money and has since become their landlord and the opposite of everything they stand for. Shows how much changes or doesn't change in the 525,600 minutes that make up a year.

About few weeks ago i watched this movie. If i not mistaken, this movie is made from broadway play. My first impressions about the intro of the movie is : 'WOW, this is gonna be a great night watching this movie'. I really love the songs they (main casts) sang, Season of Love. But then i was just like : 'sigh, this film is overrated, they sing everything -___-'. Then i realized, that this is a musical movie so no wonder they stuffed so many songs in the movie. I got excited by the scene when Angel appear as a Santa in Mark and Roger's apartment. I got more excited in the scene where all of Mark's friends and himself in a restaurant after Maureen had her protest. They all singing a song about freedom and living as a bohemian. This song really open my mind. I know there are some people who live their life as a homosexual, bisexual, trisexual, and so on, but I never think how could I live with them. After watching this movie, it is OK if i have a friend who have a different sex orientation, different point of view or another differences. We have to appreciate it.

Songs in this movie are really good. Search for Jonathan Larson to seek the songs. And, oh, so many beautiful moments in this movie. I nearly cried when finally one of the eight friends died :'(

To all who like freedom and liberty and songs too, maybe they'll like this movie. I love this movie, like, really into it! Go watch this movie!

Favorite song(s) : Seasons of Love, No Day But Today
Favorite quotation(s) : 525600 minutes, how do you measure a year in the life?

"let's rest, it's hot in here!", the girl said.

when they waited for Dinia and Indah, they rested at a gazebo (i'm not really sure it is), then Tika do this 'monkey-thing'. HILARIOUS! Adam seemed unsure about this :D

then Dinia and Indah came, yay!

They buried Dinia, what a GOOD friends they are *giggling*

Dinia was really sad :(

Nahahaha, kidding, she is quite happy, because Dinia is the one who asked her friends to buried herself.

Then they make a sand castle! It was super duper uber fun!

Hey, where is the girl? She didn't help! At all! Oh wait, she's there, she's taking pictures :)

Voila! It's done!

The girl behind the sand castle :P

Then they took a rest again, enjoying the view, taking a deep breath, clearing mind.

and they went home with smile painted in their faces. They were really happy, especially the girl :)
